Text Box: Kids and Communion
A guide for parents, grandparents, and caregivers

At Christ the Good Shepherd we welcome children to participate in all aspects of church life, including communion. In case you like to know more how this works, here are some frequently asked questions:

CGS offers a variety of ways to learn and study. Here are a few:

A)Reading and Discussion Group: meets Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and usually studies a book together, covers various theological view points.

b) Text Study Group: Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Investigates the texts for the upcoming Sunday and how they relate to our daily life.

c) Living the Questions: an intense 12-week theological study group, usually done in a gathering in people’s homes. There have been 4 groups last year, and a new one will form once there are enough people. Please let Pastor Bea know if you want to be on the waiting list.

d) Lydia Dorcas Circle: Meets the first Wednesday of the month at 12:30 pm. This is a women’s group devoted to community service and Bible study.

e) Confirmation Class: this is an intensive program offered typically to young teens to strengthen their faith. Currently there is no class in session, but will be forming as soon as need and interest become known.

f) New member orientation: scheduled from time to time with Pastor Bea

g) Fall Learning Retreat: This is a brand new plan, currently in the works.

Text Box: The CGS Book Club meets Sundays at 9am in the Fireside Room. Please contact the church office at 266-8022 for the current book that is being read or for ordering a copy. Since this is vacation season, the discussion will take place the first Sunday after Labor Day when most of us will be back from our travels: September 9, 2007. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion, even if they have not read up on the current title.
