We’ve added a few new titles to the CGS Library, and they are now available for your reading pleasure. They may be found on the new book shelf (top shelf of the book truck) or may already be found on the bookshelves. We use a modified form of the Dewey Decimal classification system by which the books are arranged. The numbers in bold following each title (e.g.263 Arm) are the Dewey numbers you can use to locate the books on the shelves. If you have any questions (What library?, What is a book truck?, How do I use the Dewey system?, etc.), your friendly librarian (that’s me, Paul) will be happy to help. De Voragine, Jacobus. The Golden legend : readings on the saints. Princeton University Press, 2012. 282.092 Dev Depicting the lives of the saints in an array of factual and fictional stories, The Golden Legend was perhaps the most widely read book, after the Bible, during the late Middle Ages. It was compiled around 1260 by Jacobus de Voragine, a scholarly friar and later archbishop of Genoa, whose purpose was to captivate, encourage, and edify the faithful, while preserving a vast store of information pertaining to the legends and traditions of the church. This book was acquired for the CGS adult education class on Medieval Church history. Terfa, Natalia. It all counts: finding God everywhere they told you Not to look. Minneapols, MN : Broadleaf Books, 2026. 248.2 Terf “If dogma or doctrine, bruises or baggage have locked you out of faith and belonging, the invitation of Natalia Terfa (a Lutheran pastor) is clear: It all counts. Her stories soften the corners of tightly held traditions to encounter the God who is opening doors and beckoning belonging. As someone who has had to carve out a place to fit my faith into church, Natalia invites me into seeing simple acts of ritual, belonging, care, and courage as practices of a living and evolving faith” – Rev. Matthew Ian Fleming. Childrens Books Alary, Laura. Around the circle: celebrating the Church year. Minneapolis : Beaming Books, 2026. J 242.2 Ala Around the Circle invites young children to journey through the seasons of the church year. Season by season, rich colors and meaningful symbols help young readers get to know these special times: how they connect to the story of Jesus, and to their own lives. With simple, rhythmic text and lush, mixed-media illustrations, this picture book depicts the circle of the liturgical year as a path full of discovery and wonder. There is space for different emotions, including sadness, but the story bends toward hope and new beginnings, reassuring children that they are loved and welcomed. In the circle of the church year, and in the circle of belonging formed by those who follow this sacred path, there is room for all. Bustard, Ned. Saint Nicholas the giftgiver. Downers Grove, IL : IVP Kids, 2021. J 270.2 .1092 Bus "In charming verse, Bustard winsomely enriches our modern notion of Santa with the history of Saint Nicholas. His colorful illustrations recall Byzantine mosaics and rightfully reimagine Nicholas in the diverse world of the early church in Asia Minor. This is sure to be a new Christmas favorite."-- Elissa Yukiko Weichbrodt, associate professor of art and art history at Covenant College 2021 Bronze Moonbeam Children’s Book Award Bustard, Ned. Saint Valentine the kindhearted. Downers Grove, IL : IVP Kids, 2024. J 270.2 Bus "Weaving whimsy with history, this book invites kids (and their grownups) to live into rhythms of love as we follow the way of Jesus. From his catchy poems to his thoughtful illustrations, it's clear that Ned Bustard creates with deep care and intention as he points families to the love God has for us―and to the love we are called to share with our neighbor."-- Kayla Craig, author of Every Season Sacred and To Light Their Way CGS Library New Book Titles Summer 2026 We’ve added a few new titles to the CGS Library, and they are now available for your reading pleasure.
