In 1952, a group of Lutherans broke ground at 1550 Meridian Avenue and began building today's Great Hall, kitchen, and men's bathroom.
Over 70 years later, that original wing of the church needs repair and renewal. |

Our Ministry

At CGS, we aspire to proclaim God's word and love, welcome all, and serve one another and the world in all things that we do.
Today, we aim to transform our aging building to support the changing Christian calling of the next generations of South Bay Lutherans and to maintain a safe and welcoming place for our neighbors and friends. |
Parts of our building have reached the end of their lives, and it's time to renew those spaces where we bake the bread of communion, gather in fellowship, share joy and hope, serve our food-insecure neighbors, and refresh our spirits! That's why we're calling our campaign: "Renewing Spaces, Refreshing Spirits."

The project will also give the office parking lot an ADA upgrade for better access to worship services. |

To complete this project, we will need to raise significant funds and spend a lot of resources on our church. But as Christians, we know that we are called to share in our abundance. In response to this calling, at the end of the campaign, we plan to tithe 10% of the funds raised by our congregation to support the broader community outside our church doors.

Our Campaign
Almost sixty years after the My House campaign built today's sanctuary, CGS began the Renewing Spaces campaign described above. The campaign status on April 14, 2025 was:
