Daniel ThomasA Bay Area native, Daniel has been leading music at CGS since 2015, playing the piano, leading instrumentalists and our handbell choir, singing, and writing and arranging music. He started studying music at age 7; one of his earliest church memories was learning to sing the harmony parts out of the Lutheran Book of Worship. Daniel received his Bachelor of Music in Composition and Choral Studies from UC Santa Barbara, where he served as student director of the men’s choruses and founded a vocal jazz quartet. Daniel served as the tenor section leader/soloist at Westwood Hills Christian Church and then 13 years as the music and choir director at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Long Beach. Daniel has been active as a music director, conductor, pianist, singer, actor, arranger and arts administrator for over 20 years; he is currently the Director of Operations at Cantabile Youth Singers and does freelance musical direction for theatre companies throughout the Bay Area.
